I'VE GOT YOUR BACK

remember, we are all in this together. there is no you, there is no me. there is only us; connected, intertwined, inter-dependent. 'The most remarkable feature of this historical moment on Earth is not that we are on the way to destroying the world--we've actually been on the way for quite awhile. It is that we are beginning to wake up, as from a millennia-long sleep, to a whole new relationship to our world, to ourselves and to each other.'~  joanna macy

LOOKING FOR ARTWORK FOR OUR NEW HOME

i'm thinking of getting one of these photos in a super large print for the hallway. this is where horse hairs and animal skins belong, on the animals! not on hand bags, luggage or shoes. aren't these creatures beautiful? photos: apples and oats

FILM FRIDAY

in my last post i referenced paul thomas anderson, so i thought it was fitting to make him and his new film 'the master' my film friday post. radiohead's jonny greenwood did the soundtrack so it should be amazing and the trailers look really intriguing. i haven't been this excited to see a film since terrence malick's 'tree of life', which didn't disappoint. if anyone gets a sneak peak of pta's film, please tell me what you think! have a great weekend. xoxo, annette

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

kelly wearstler does it again. i love design blogs and interior design magazines and browse them often(too often) when i need a break from writing. of course there are thousands of beautiful rooms...however, this lady pushes the boundaries of what's possible(maybe not liveable, but certainly possible!) and it raises the bar for everyone. in my opinion kelly wearstler is the paul thomas anderson of interior design. this month's issue of elle decor has the most recent project done by ms. wearstler and it's amazing. layered, interesting, bold, unexpected, sublime and at times truly beautiful.

BEEN LOOKIN' FOR YOU....

i've been looking for high-top tennis shoes that aren't made by nike or isabel marant or prada or companies where workers are exploited and animals are killed.  i don't want to shop from big conglomerates who get more powerful when i give them my hard-earned money.

so....here's the answer to my tennis shoe quandry: KEEP! an LA shoe company, who aside from making very cool, interesting tennis shoes, manages to follow cruelty-free practices. why other apparel/design companies can't follow suit, i'll never understand.

KEEP is proof that cruelty-free and sustaining our lovely planet is fashionable and profitable. i'm ordering mine today. xoxoxo, am ps. high-tops i'm getting. all photos: keepcompany
